Minimum Requirements

Windows

  • Pentium IV or higher
  • 512 MB RAM (1 GB recommended)
  • 2 GB free hard drive space
  • Windows 7 or later

Mac

  • Intel-based Mac or Apple Silicon
  • 512 MB RAM (1 GB recommended)
  • 2 GB free hard drive space
  • macOS 10.13 or later

Why Can’t I Access the Course?

If you have difficulty accessing the course:

  • Ensure you are using one of the supported browsers listed below.
  • Clear your browser cache and cookies.
  • Disable any pop-up blockers or security extensions that may interfere.
  • If issues persist, contact external support.

What is a Browser?

  • A web browser is software that allows you to access websites and resources on the World Wide Web. Common browsers include Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge.
  • Moodle is compatible with most current browsers. Use the latest version of at least one (preferably two) supported browsers. To check your browser version or download another browser, visit whatsmybrowser.org.

Managing Unexpected Pop-Ups and Security Alerts

Edge Security Alert

If you see the message: “This page contains both secure and non-secure items. Do you want to display the non-secure items?” follow these steps:

  1. Open Edge.
  2. Click SettingsPrivacy, search, and services.
  3. Scroll to Security settings.
  4. Enable Display mixed content (or allow insecure content for the site).
  5. Restart Edge.

How to Enable Pop-Ups in Your Browser

Some course activities use pop-up windows. Disable pop-up blockers or allow pop-ups for the course site.

Google Chrome

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Click the three dots menu → Settings.
  3. Go to Privacy and securitySite SettingsPop-ups and redirects.
  4. Under Allow, click Add and enter the site URL → Add.
  5. Alternatively, when a pop-up is blocked, click the Pop-up blocked icon in the address bar and choose Always allow pop-ups and redirects from [site]Done.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Click the hamburger menu → Settings.
  3. Select Privacy & Security.
  4. Scroll to Permissions.
  5. Click Exceptions… next to Block pop-up windows, enter the site URL → AllowSave Changes.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Edge.
  2. Click the three dots menu → Settings.
  3. Go to Cookies and site permissionsPop-ups and redirects.
  4. Under Allow, click Add and enter the site URL → Add.

Safari (Mac)

  1. Open Safari and go to the website.
  2. Click SafariSettingsWebsites tab → Pop-up Windows.
  3. For the current site, choose Allow.
  4. To allow pop-ups for all sites, select Allow next to “When visiting other websites.”

Recommended Browser Settings

  • Pop-ups: Enabled
  • Cookies: Enabled
  • Screen Refresh: Set browser to refresh on each visit
